Tried to install SUSE 10.1 Beta 5 on two of my systems, but had no success.
- On system no. 1 (Asus Board, AMD Athlon 1333, 768MB, NVidia Geforce 2 MX200) the installation switched to a black screen and nothing more could be done with the system, I had to press the Reset-button
. This system shows problems witch ANY Linux installation I tried, except Debian Sarge and Ubuntu 4.10. All other installations went wrong (Ubuntu 5.04, 5.10, 6.10flight3, Fedora Core 4, Fedora Core 5 Beta 2, SUSE 10.0, 10.1 beta 3, 10.1 beta4). I still don’t know what the problem is with this system… maybe the hardware scanning process at the beginning of installation leads to the problems, cause when copying the installation from another system over the network, this runs perfect on this system.
- On system no. 2 (Epox Board, AMD Sthlon XP 1800+, 1GB, NVidia Geforce 2 MX200) the installation in graphics mode also lead to a black screen and froze the systeme, even when starting in “Safe Settings” mode. So I tried Text-mode installation, which worked until the first reboot, after that grub appears, but nothing more could be done with the system, I had to reinstall grub from a rescue CD to get access to my production installation again
